A reinforced cast concrete pillar is sunk deep into the ground as a functioning foundation for a structure that does not (yet) exist.
Intersecting the areas of sculpture and performance and myth, the piece inverts the classical column, and subverts the plinth. It asserts its materiality yet is invisible, effaces itself as it reaches completion, affirming a dissatisfaction with the commodified art object, and examining the intersection of labour and value within the art world.
