Tim Howard
The work would have a large flatscreen set into a wall in a small isolated space with an entrance and an exit within a gallery/project space. This screen would be linked via wired wizardry to two motion-sensor equipped cameras. These cameras would activate when a viewer enters the space, sensing their presence and following the viewer around the room.
Upon the flatscreen would be a video image of an eye, constructed in a way which enables it to follow the viewer, with the pupil focused on each individual’s head height. The pupil would dilate and contract as the viewer moves closer or further away from the screen. In essence, the eye would, as with the clichéd phrase about old paintings, literally follow you around the room; occasionally blinking.
I would like the video image to be as realistic as possible; high definition, programmed to be flawlessly natural in its execution.
